The Rosemount 708 Wireless Acoustic Transmitter provides acoustic event detection including leaks in steam traps and pressure relief valves. The transmitter communicates acoustic level and temperature as well as device and event status via the WirelessHART network for integration into host systems, data historians or energy management software.
Real-time Visibility to Critical Steam Traps
Once-a-year inspections of steam traps leave you vulnerable to significant energy loss. The Rosemount 708 Wireless Acoustic Transmitter can monitor your critical steam traps every minute of every day to address failures as they happen and maximize your energy savings. Through a dedicated steam trap monitoring software program, you will be able to see the status of every trap, including if the trap state is normal, cold or blown-through. The Rosemount 708 will also notify you with real-time alerts, so that you know immediately when a trap fails.
Information to Make Good Decisions
The specialized steam trap software used with the Rosemount 708 lets you prioritize your steam traps, so the ones requiring the most attention appear on the top of the list. It also provides you with real-time actionable information on trap state and identifies if the trap is normal, cold or blown-thru. You can also set up reporting groups by trap location, so that you can easily view the status of all the traps in a given area. The Rosemount 708 comes equipped with its own diagnostics, so you can be certain that your steam trap monitors are operating correctly.
Fast and Easy to Install and Maintain
Installing new instrumentation can be time consuming and tricky, especially if it involves cutting into pipes and training your staff on unfamiliar procedures. With the Rosemount 708, the system is easy, fast and flexible to install. The devices are non-intrusive and mounted using supplied stainless steel mounting bands, so you won’t need to cut into your pipes. The small, lightweight engineered polymer housing means that you can place it anywhere, even in tight spots, locations with harsh environmental conditions or hazardous areas.
Proven Technology That is Easy to Use
In addition to evaluating features and functions, you want to be confident that the technology is going to install and work as promised. The Rosemount 708 transmitters have the same configuration and installation practices as wired HART, making additional training minimal. Power modules have a 10-year life and replacing them is a snap, thanks to their special design for error-proof installation. It is a “set and forget” solution, relieving you of the burden of annual inspections with the confidence that you have the information you need.
Real-time Visibility to PRV Conditions
The Rosemount 708 notifies you with real-time alerts, so that you know immediately when a PRV opens. This real-time notification enables you to handle issues as they arise and minimize regulatory concerns. Each alert is time stamped and integrated into the data historian using tamper-proof OPC data, so that you can compare against process conditions or environmental reporting to identify the root cause of a release.

Proven Technology That is Easy-to-Use
In addition to evaluating features and functions, you want to be confident that the technology is going to install and work as promised. Choosing unproven technology could result in set-backs and even greater risks. Emerson's experience in wireless is unmatched in the industry, with over 5,100 operating networks globally and more than 450 million operating hours.
Identifying why a release occurred can be nearly impossible at times. The Rosemount 708 provides time-stamped, real-time alerts that can be compared against process conditions or environmental reporting to help you identify the root cause of a release. Armed with this information, you can take preventative actions to reduce emissions and minimize fines.
Reduce Environmental Impact
HSE managers face the challenge of demonstrating environmental responsibility in their plants, where releases from PRVs do occur, sometimes leaking pollutants. The Rosemount 708 is a proactive monitoring system that notifies you immediately if a release occurs, enabling you to act quickly and reduce the severity of the release. By reducing your environmental impact with the Rosemount 708, you will be helping to maintain your positive brand image.
